Our Battle of Hastings chess set represents the most famous and decisive battle to ever take place on British soil. The 14th of October 1066 is the most recognisable date in British history, it is the day Duke William of Normandy’s forces defeated King Harold of England and his men.
This chess set does justice to this epic battle, each individual ceramic piece has been wonderfully hand painted by skilled artists. The pieces in our Battle of Hastings chess set show great attention to detail as can be seen by clicking on the pictures below.
The Battle of Hastings chess set includes King Harold, and William the Conqueror, as well as their respective men, William’s men are portrayed in blood red, while Harold’s wear moss green
The board itself is 36 x 36cm, it is fantastically smooth and elegant; it is raised off the playing surface by bronze supporting on each corner. Each square on the board is indented, giving it a beautiful appearance.
The Battle of Hastings chess set comes securely packaged in a stylish wooden storage box with bronze handles and clasps. The pieces are held individually in a fitted felt casing with the board fitting on top.
