In response to the public's increased awareness of the importance of protection from the sun's harmful ultra violet rays, Umbrella Heaven have designed and developed a range of high quality parasols and umbrellas called the "Silverback" range.
The special feature about them is their extraordinarily high level of UV protection.
They are coated with a silver metallic layer to block the ultra violet.
They have been independently tested by the Health Protection Agency (formerly the National Radiological Board in Oxfordshire).
The test results which show that the UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rating is between +400 and +500 is available for inspection upon application.
This means that between only 1/400th and 1/500th of Ultra Violet penetrates - a virtual total block! (Most sun creams by comparison only go as high as factor +50).
In addition to this, in some of the Silberback designs have had the underside made in black.
This has the added advantage that any ground-reflected UV is absorbed rather than reflected by the parabolic shape of the parasol onto the head and shoulders of the users, making this parasol a really boon for the garden, beach and camping lover!
